Dear SFUSD Families,
Happy new school year! I hope that each of you enjoyed a wonderful summer. I am thrilled to kick off the 2022-2023 school year as the superintendent of SFUSD.
SFUSD’s focus is to ensure that SFUSD students thrive based on our values of equity and anti-racism, and I appreciate your continued partnership in your children’s educational journey. As I continue to listen and learn from our diverse community, with an eye towards building relationships and restoring trust, I look forward to engaging in honest reflection and dialogue so that we can uplift best practices and improve upon where we might be falling short.
Upon my first month in the District, I have been working with staff to prepare for the new school year on August 17. We recognize that safe and nurturing environments are essential to foster a joy of learning for our students in classrooms. Please review the information included in this monthly e-newsletter and other SFUSD communication to help you and your child prepare for the new school year.
I am excited to be serving the students, families, and staff in this vibrant district committed to educational equity and academic excellence.
Dr. Matt Wayne
SFUSD Superintendent
