3Strands Global Foundation (3SGF) is recruiting for the JUMA Job Opportunity at Oracle Park and Chase Center for all SF Giants and Golden State Warriors home games. SFUSD seniors and their families are welcome to receive 1:1 support for completing the CADAA or FAFSA financial aid applications in a one-day workshop at Balboa High School (Enter the campus on Otsego). Bring your 2021 taxes. Spanish and Cantonese-speaking staff are available with indoor and outdoor options for all to receive support. SFCAHT’s Annual Poster, Writing, and Music Contest
The San Francisco Collaborative Against Human Trafficking (SFCAHT)'s annual poster, writing, and music contest provides middle and high school students a platform to learn about human trafficking and join the movement against this horrific crime. Those who enter have the chance to win up to $500 and be acknowledged by SFCAHT and Bay Area government officials at a special award ceremony during the Teen Power Against Human Trafficking Summit.

SF Youth Theatre Teen Classes
San Francisco Youth Theatre (SFYT) is offering two new classes for youth ages 13-20: Queer Drama for LGBTQIA+ youth to explore queer narratives through theater, storytelling, and performance, and Actuación en Español, an acting workshop taught in Spanish for young people interested in venturing into acting through scene work and improvisational games.

Happy Lunar New Year!
We wish to extend support and acknowledgment to our students and families who observe Lunar New Year, including the Chinese New Year, Tet, Mongolian New Year, and Korean New Year. Please note that SFUSD schools will be closed on Monday, Jan. 23 in observance of this holiday.
Plus, learn about the colorful traditions and symbolism that enrich the Lunar New Year celebration throughout Asian cultures at events at the San Francisco Public Library. Watch Jing Mo Athletic Association’s lion dancers chase bad spirits away from select locations and help San Francisco celebrate the Lunar New Year. Also, check out multiple performances of San Francisco’s Flying Angels Chinese Dance Company at a variety of locations.

SAT, AP Exams, & PSAT Information For High School Students
SAT
Students interested in taking the SAT may do so at our designated central location, which is Lowell High School this year. The Lowell testing site is open to the public, so we cannot reserve slots for SFUSD students. Because of this, you should register as soon as possible. Registration is managed directly by College Board at satsuite.collegeboard.org.
Note: Many major college systems have taken steps to remove the SAT and ACT as an admission requirement, in particular the CSU and UC systems. Many private colleges and universities have also followed suit.
Advanced Placement (AP) Tests
SFUSD students will have access to take any AP exam being offered at an SFUSD high school, even if their own school does not administer it. Students may take AP exams regardless of whether they took the AP course.
PSAT
There are no more PSATs scheduled for the 2022-23 school year, since the College Board timeline has passed.
Students should go to their counselor with any questions and to receive additional support.
Applying to a CSU
It is not too late to apply to a Cal State University (CSU). The following campuses are still accepting applications for Fall 2023: Sacramento, Sonoma, Stanislaus, East Bay, Chico, Fresno, San Francisco, Maritime (a hidden gem!), Northridge, Pomona, San Marcos, San Bernardino, Dominguez Hills, Channel Islands. Financial Aid Reminder
Beginning 2022-2023 school year, all seniors must complete a financial aid application: the FAFSA or CADAA. Please talk to your school counselor if you have any questions, or cannot complete the application. 2022-23 Scholarship Opportunties

Here is one opportunity you can apply for:
For African American high school SFUSD seniors who will graduate by June 2023.
A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to seniors who are pursuing a college degree or a career goal, who have satisfactory scholastic achievement, and who have a financial need. Deadline Mar. 14, 2023.
